Friday Show and Tell

For today's show and tell hosted by Kelli over at kellishouse.blogspot.com, I would like to show a few more of my Christmas decorations. Here are all the boys' stocking hung by the fire! Also notice my vintage Mr. and Mrs. Santa Clause. I paid 3.00 each for these at a yard sale. They are so cute. They are made of that stiffened fabric and are pretty big. The picture does not do them justice.
All of the items in the stockings are WRAPPED! This was a tradition that my mother started when I was real young. I was always awake around 4am, so excited about Christmas. Well, mom and dad were not too happy about waking up this early, so mom started to hang our stockings on our bedpost and carefully wrapped each item. That way I could spend some time opening my special treats and give them more time to sleep! I have always done the same except they get hung by the fire. I even wrap packs of gum!
Here is a tree and some reindeer in my yard. You can see a little bit of my big polar bear in the corner.

Snowman heads light the walkway. This is my manger scene. I painted these also. Sandy built the manger for me. I regret that I never bought the other ceramic pieces to finish the scene. That store has long gone out of business. Sandy is also working on a star for the top.
I just have too much to show for one post, so please stop by again to see more of our Christmas display!

What cute decorations. I love it that you wrap everything in the stockings! So cute and really a clever idea to keep the kids busy! Maybe the Lord will bless you and you will find the rest of your nativity scene at a thrift store or garage sale!

Merry Christmas! Sharon

Well, something's odd. I commented that I loved your show n tell share and then came back to add a P S...post, and the first one I did disappeared. Hmmmmm.

Have a great Friday with visiting all the other SnTs and a wonderful weekend.

Beautiful stockings. I wrap the stocking gifts too. Half the fun of getting a gift is unwarapping it!

Your decorations are great. I don't have any outdoor ones except for the wreath on the door. Wrapping the stocking gifts to keep the kids occupied is a fun idea...

I really love your Mr and Mrs Santa! And I also think your mama must have been a very wise woman...I may take up on her idea of wrapping the stocking gifts myself!

We wrap our stocking gifts, too. We add to them all month, so we didn't want anyone to discover what was in them too soon. When the boys were little I used to have a little stuffed animal peeking out the top that I'd put in Christmas Eve.

I love your decorations! And I love the story about you waking up early and your mom wrapping the stocking gifts and hanging it on your bedpost! :D
The Nativity you painted is just beautiful! I would so love to have an outdoor Nativity one day!

Cute idea--wrapping the stocking gifts. That would keep a child busy for awhile!

I think your nativity scene is great even without the other figures. It tells the sotry in a simple and sweet way. Thank you for sharing.

Good idea to wrap all the stocking gifts! I like your decorations, especially the manger scene.

I looked at last week's S&T too since I was out-of-town, I love your village and great that you found more!

I look forward to seeing more of your decorations. I'm trying to get my blog ready for Boo Mama's Tour of Homes tomorrow. See you there!
