I'VE BEEN TAGGED

So, Sharon over at http://roseofsharonmay.blogspot.com/ has tagged me for this one! The rules are you put up a picture of yourself that shows the real you and talk about it and then tag three to five other people. As some may feel uncomfortable posting a current photo, a baby or childhood picture is fine. Post the picture, tell us the story behind it, copy the logo, and tag three (or more) others (without forgetting to tell them that they have been tagged!)

So, I do not have many pictures of myself on digital camera so I had to take a picture of a picture and they did not turn out to well.

This is me and Austin a few years ago from our trip to Cedar Point (which is by the way the best park we have ever been to). This is usually how I look- tired, hair messed up, too much sun! I love this picture so much because people always say how much Austin looks like me and I never really saw it until I saw this picture. He really does!

Here is one more of me at Christmas. I am a little overjoyed about a gift. I have always been very self conscience about my smile, so it is rare to have a picture of me smiling so big. So this is the real me!

I am going to tag-

Mightymom at http://www.texassiren.blogspot.com/

Thanks everyone for playing along!

Sunday

We had a really nice day yesterday. We were having "old fashioned day" at church and all the men were dressed in overalls and the women in long dresses and bonnets. Then we had a big meal, but Sandy and I did not stay for that. Billy and Wesley came over to wash clothes and then I took all four of them to the store to buy a video game. It is a rare occasion that I can get all four of them together, so it was real fun shopping with them. They were cutting up acting like little kids and asking for stuff. Billy was saying, "Mommy, mommy buy me a sword" when we passed the dollar store. He used to love those cheap plastic swords when he was little. We had a great time together and I wish I could spend more time with all of them more often.

Shoes, shoes and more shoes

My husband, Sandy and I were headed out to grocery shop and we noticed that a small local shoe store was going out of business. We had already passed it and the road was so busy that we just decided to park and walk there. All the shoes were 1/2 price and some were even lower. I got two pair of nice heels for $4.00 each. We both got tennis shoes for under $10. I got Austin a pair and Wes two pairs that I will put up for Christmas. I didn't get Aaron or Billy any because they are name brand only shoe people :)
All in all we got 10 pair of shoes for under $80.00 ! What a great deal! Aaron spent more than that on his one pair for back to school.
I just love a bargain!

Show and Tell Friday

Check out Kelli's blog to find out how you can join in on this grown up version of show and tell. http://kellishouse.blogspot.com/
This is an 8 track player that was given to me by my Aunt. It belonged to my cousin who recently passed away. She gave this to me to sell on ebay, but I could not bring myself to do that. I guess it fascinates me so much, because as a child we were not allowed to listen to the radio and popular music so we did not have one of these. I actually think that this is better technology than a cassette because you can advance it to the next song. (8 track was before cassette, right?)
These are a popular item on ebay but I will keep mine! It still works and sounds good.
Don't you just love how my cat got in the picture AGAIN! He is very good at that.

JOB OPP

I have a job opportunity that is with the same company that I already work for. This job would open a lot of doors for me. I would really like to have this position, but I am still being held back by the hours. For the past 10 years I have worked hours that have allowed me to get off at 2:30 so that I am able to transport the boys home from school. Aaron has just finished drivers ed so I am really wanting him to get a car and pass his test. That would greatly help me! Since Billy and Wes work and do not live at home they are not able to help me in transporting the younger two. (Wes doesn't have a licence either). I am really excited about applying for this position, but do not want to push Aaron to drive if he is not ready and I have to consider the cost of buying him a car.
I always have a hard time in making these kind of decisions. I will pray about it and see if God opens this door for me.

Not much going on here. I have not been feeling well and have been very tired. Many of my co-workers are very sick so I hope I am not the next one! I did go out to eat Sunday at the new place Wes is working at. It was real good home cooking for only $5.00 a plate. That place was busy! Aaron went to a big sleepover for one of his friends birthday's. He came home yesterday at 3 and went to sleep! They had stayed up all night.
Well, it is 5:30am and I am off to work. Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Wes and his many jobs

Wesley recently started a new job. He is a cook at a small hometown restaurant. He used to be a saute chef at the Olive Garden, so this was an easy transition for him. I taught Wes how to cook when he was very small. And seeing as I cook for a living, I am very proud that he is "following in my footsteps". Then he also landed a job doing heating and air work. The hours that he cooks works well with the hours at the other job. So, he has two jobs. He went from on extreme to the next! I am very thankful and think that this is good for him right now. This will keep him very busy and out of any trouble :)
I was told by someone who knows a very good female friend of his, that he had a 4 hour conversation with her and that he was saying that he really wanted to turn his life around and get on the right track. Wow! What a blessing in the midst of it all!

Show and Tell Friday

OOPS! didn't mean to put my cat in there and I can't seem to delete it?! :)

Once again it is time for Show and Tell Friday. Please visit Kelli's blog at http://kellishouse.blogspot.com/. It is a great way to meet new friends and show them your wonderful treasures.

The other day I was early getting to Aaron's school so I stopped in the Goodwill store on that side of town. As I walked down one of the isles, I saw this mirror in a lady's hand. She was taking her time in looking at it. I stayed real close to her waiting for her to put it down. I was curious to see it too. I snatched it up just a quick as she had it out of her hands! They had a whole matching bathroom set but I only bought the two mirrors. I think they are genuinely old. I paid $1.50 each!
Sorry, but it will be late tonight before I can look at everyone elses show and tell!

Austin gets braces

Austin got his braces put on and they will be putting the expander in his mouth in a few weeks. I think he looks just adorable with them! He has been in some pain and having a hard time with them. I keep telling him to remember how great the outcome will be. He will have the best smile of the whole bunch!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US!!!!

Sara is trying to blow out the candles on my hat!
Sara got me an adorable sparkly purse!

My mom, sister and I all have our birthdays around the same time. Mine is the 8th, Sara's is the 2nd and mom's is the 10th. So we had a big party. Look at all those pizzas! That is the benefit of Sara being a manager at dominos. We all just loved mom's reaction to the little pink shoes that Bridgette (my niece) bought her to go with her 'build a bear' bear. Bridgette bought her the bear last Christmas. Mom had never heard of build a bear. She was so excited to find out that the bear would talk and say "I love you Granny" in Bridgette's voice. She was even more excited to find out she could dress the bear in different outfits. So, when she got the pink shoes, she just went crazy! She said she needs a closet now for the bear!

We had a great time together and missed having Billy there. He had to work.

SHOW AND TELL FRIDAY

I am so happy to be back on track with show and tell! Please visit http://kellishouse.blogspot.com/ to learn how you can join in and show off all your favorite stuff!

Today I would like to show some of Austin's cool old movie popcorn boxes. A few years ago he decided to decorate his room as a movie theater. We found some real neat old popcorn boxes and these are just a few of what he has. We also went to an old movie house that was closed down and puchased some theater chairs. The man there was so nice and gave him some other movie items including the movie reel. When we got home we were so excited to find out that the movie reel was of the movie Titanic - his favorite movie!
Thanks for stopping by!

My Precious Wesley

Here is a picture of Wes from his prom last year. Take a look at his recent picture when he came home to do his laundry! What a huge difference the hair makes! LOL!
As I have not yet introduced everyone to each of my boys, I will start with Wes. I first want to thank all of you for your prayers and words of support as we have been dealing with a personal issue with Wes.
Wes came into the world on August 1st, 1988-weighing in at 8lbs 1 oz. His birth was so easy for me. He slept thru the entire night on his first night home. He was the perfect child. As he grew up, he was such a kind, compassionate and giving child. He cared so much about others. I remember his third birthday when his grandmother gave him a really big truck. She also gave Billy a small truck so as not to leave him out. Well, Billy really wanted the big one and Wes gave it to him and told him he would take the small one. He was so helpful and would do anything that I asked of him. He was always teachers favorite, too. He always did well in school. I was so proud of him the day he graduated! My love for this boy just overflows. He is so precious to me. He is no longer living at home and he is struggling in his teenage years. As one blogger friend reminded me of what the Bible says- Train up a child in the way he should go and when he grows old he will not depart from it! I too strayed as a teenager, but I did find my way back to God. I do know that I taught my boys right and raised them the best that I could. I know that God is an important part in Wesley's heart and that is what keeps me strong in dealing with these difficult times! One day soon ,when all of this is behind us I will share with all of you this struggle. For now, I feel that I am not strong enough to do so. I have not had enough time to handle it for myself yet. Thank you all for understanding.
God Bless
